FM27 New UI: 7 Changes That Could Transform Your Save

Football Manager has never been short of information.

That has always been part of the appeal. Players, tactics, scouting reports, finances, transfers, training, staff, competitions, news… there is an enormous amount to keep track of during a save.

But there has also been a familiar problem: sometimes finding the information you actually need can feel like another job.

Football Manager 27 is taking a different approach.Rather than simply adding more information, FM27 is changing how that information is presented, how you move around the game and how much control you have over your own interface. The result could be one of the most meaningful changes to the day-to-day Football Manager experience in years. Here are seven FM27 new UI changes that could make a real difference to the way you play your next save.

1. Fewer Clicks, Faster Decisions

One of the biggest changes in FM27 is also one of the simplest: getting around the game should require fewer clicks.

The main navigation has been redesigned around clearer sections such as Portal, Squad, Tactics, Recruitment, Training and Club.

Instead of relying so heavily on information tiles as a way of navigating through the game, FM27 puts more of that navigation directly into the primary and secondary menus.

This sounds like a small adjustment.

For anyone who has played hundreds of hours of Football Manager, however, small improvements to navigation can add up quickly.

Need to check your squad? You should get there more directly.

Want to move between different parts of Recruitment? The secondary navigation is designed to make that easier.

Looking at your tactics, training or club information? The game is trying to put the next logical action much closer to where you already are.

The real benefit may become obvious during long-term saves. When you’re playing through several seasons, the number of times you repeat the same actions becomes enormous.

Saving a few clicks every time could make the entire game feel faster without actually making the football management experience any less detailed.

2. More Information on One Screen

Football Manager has always had a lot of screens.

FM27 is increasingly about making those screens work harder.

Many areas of the interface are being redesigned as fuller, more focused experiences, with important information presented directly instead of requiring you to open several different windows.

This is particularly important when you’re making decisions.

A scouting message, for example, can now include the scout report itself rather than simply telling you that a report is available.

Similarly, multiple transfer offers for the same player can be grouped together in one message.

That means less jumping between screens and more decision-making from the information already in front of you.

It is a subtle change, but it addresses one of the biggest frustrations in a complex management game: knowing that the information exists somewhere, but having to hunt for it.

FM27 appears to be moving towards an interface where the information you need is more likely to be in front of you when you need it.

3. Your Screen, Your Rules

This could be one of the most important changes for long-term FM players.

FM27 introduces more ways to customise how information is displayed on your screen.

The interface can now adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions, while new scaling options allow you to decide how much information you want to see.

There are three main information settings: Default, Detailed and Condensed.

That means players using a laptop screen and players sitting in front of a large 4K monitor don’t necessarily have to experience the game in exactly the same way.

Tables and lists can also make better use of available screen space.

And then there are custom views.

This combination is particularly interesting for experienced players because Football Manager is not played in one universal way.

One manager might want as much data as possible.

Another might prefer a cleaner interface with only the information needed for the current decision.

FM27 is giving both players more control.

4. Bookmarks Are Becoming More Useful

Bookmarks may not sound like a headline feature, but they can completely change how you move through a long save.

FM27 expands the existing Bookmark system by giving players more control over their Bookmark Bar.

You can rearrange your bookmarks, while text descriptors make it easier to remember exactly what each one represents.

That matters because your priorities change throughout a season.

During pre-season, you might want quick access to training, tactics and squad information.

During the transfer window, recruitment and finances become much more important.

Towards the end of the season, competitions, fixtures and player development may take priority.

Instead of constantly navigating through the same menus, you can build a setup that reflects what you are actually doing.

It is another example of FM27 moving towards a more personalised interface rather than expecting every manager to play in exactly the same way.

5. Continue Could Finally Feel Different

For many FM players, clicking Continue is the heartbeat of a save.

Click. Process. Check messages. Click. Process. Repeat.

FM27 is changing what happens after you press Continue.

Rather than simply returning you to the same familiar areas of the game, the new Continue Flow system can take you to different areas of your save as you progress.

There are three preset options: Streamlined, Balanced and Comprehensive.

Streamlined is designed for players who want to move through the calendar more quickly.

Balanced provides a middle ground.

Comprehensive is aimed at managers who want to see more information and events as they happen.

There is also a Custom option.

This is where things become particularly interesting.

You can decide how frequently the game stops for different types of messages, results, fixtures and news.

In other words, you can decide how much interruption you want during the journey through your season.

For players who enjoy moving quickly through multiple seasons, that could make a huge difference.

For those who want to immerse themselves in every detail, it gives the opposite option.

The important thing is that FM27 is giving the player more control over the rhythm of their save.

6. News Is No Longer Just Something to Click Through

The News and Messages systems are also being redesigned.

FM27 introduces colour-coded messages based on their topics, making different types of information easier to recognise at a glance.

More importantly, information is being presented more directly.

Instead of receiving a message that simply points you towards another screen, more of the relevant information can appear inside the message itself.

That could make the daily flow of a save feel considerably more natural.

There is also a wider redesign of the News experience.

The game is expanding the stories you encounter throughout a season, with different types of content appearing around key stages of your career.

Pre-season previews, mid-season stories, title run-ins, relegation battles, transfer developments and job speculation are all part of a wider attempt to make the football world around your club feel more alive.

That matters because your save is not supposed to exist in isolation.

Your rivals are changing.

Other managers are making decisions.

Players are moving clubs.

Competitions are developing.

FM27 wants the interface to help you notice those things rather than making you dig for them.

7. Tiles Are Finally Becoming Yours

Perhaps the most interesting part of FM27’s UI philosophy is the introduction of tile swapping.

Certain tiles in areas such as the Portal can now be replaced with another tile of the same size.

That gives you greater control over what information appears on your most frequently used screens.

Imagine starting a save where recruitment is your biggest priority.

You could build your Portal around scouting and transfer information.

Later in the season, you might want to prioritise squad development, finances or upcoming fixtures.

Instead of accepting a fixed layout, FM27 allows you to change parts of the interface to match your current needs.

The same idea is also being introduced into the Match Day Interface, with more customisation planned as part of a longer-term approach to screen personalisation.

This is potentially much bigger than simply changing a few tiles.

It suggests that Football Manager is moving towards an interface that can increasingly adapt to the manager rather than forcing the manager to adapt to the interface.

Why the FM27 UI Changes Matter

None of these changes completely reinvent what Football Manager is.

You will still scout players.

You will still spend hours trying to decide whether that 19-year-old midfielder is worth £18 million.

You will still wonder why your striker has suddenly forgotten how to score.

And you will still tell yourself that you are only going to play one more match before going to bed.

What changes is the way you interact with all of that information.

FM27 is putting a much greater emphasis on reducing unnecessary navigation, presenting more useful information at the right time and giving players more control over how their screens work.

That could be particularly important for long-term saves.

The longer you play Football Manager, the more you notice the little things.

A menu you open hundreds of times.

A screen you visit before every match.

A message you repeatedly click through.

A piece of information that always seems to be one screen further away than you want it to be.

Improving those small interactions could have a surprisingly large impact on the overall experience.

Final Thoughts

FM27’s new UI is not simply about making Football Manager look different.

The bigger story is control.

Control over where you navigate.

Control over what information you see.

Control over how much information appears on screen.

Control over how quickly your save progresses.

And increasingly, control over how your own version of Football Manager is organised.

For a game built around making thousands of decisions across a career that can last decades, improving the way those decisions are presented could be just as important as adding another headline feature.

If FM27 can deliver on that promise, the biggest change may not be something you notice during your first hour.

It could be something you appreciate 200 hours into a save.
